As a non-political, not-for-profit volunteer- based community service association which stands as a vibrant and inclusive platform committed to bringing together the Indian community in Ballarat and strengthening its connection with the wider local community.
Ballarat Indian Association Inc. (BIAinc) was founded on 2 March 2007.
Rooted in the spirit of “Unity in Diversity”, the association celebrates the rich cultural heritage, languages, traditions, and festivals that represent the diverse Indian diaspora.
Through a wide range of cultural, social, and educational events, BIA aims to foster inclusiveness, mutual respect, and community harmony. Whether it’s Australia Day/ Indian Republic Day, Indian Independence Day, Diwali, Holi, the Association welcomes all residents of Ballarat to join in the celebrations – sharing food, music, dance, and stories that reflect India’s multicultural ethos.
Beyond cultural festivities, BIA also supports new migrants in settling into the region, promotes youth engagement, senior citizens and works closely with local councils and organisations to contribute meaningfully to Ballarat’s multicultural fabric.
At its heart, the Ballarat Indian Association Inc. is more than a cultural group—it is a symbol of togetherness, resilience, and unity, echoing the message that while we may come from different backgrounds, we are stronger when we stand together as ‘Australian Indians’.
